what happens when you block someone on facebook
This is an uplifting personal experience that I feel is worth sharing and worth breaking my no what happens when you block someone on facebook rule for..
In mid December I took a taxi ride in Hove to my work's Christmas party. The taxi driver was very friendly and polite. We talked about our respective children who are the same ages and attend local schools. I told him I was a teacher. When I was getting out of the taxi I noticed a large roll of cash on the cab floor. I picked it up and counted £170.00. I exclai...med and told the taxi driver what I'd found and handed it to him. I was in a rush and we were blocking the road. I said "I'll leave this with your conscience." and I jumped out as he called after me that he'd try and work out who his previous ride had been.
I told my colleagues at the party what had happened. Opinions differed on whether I should have kept it or handed it to the police myself but everyone agreed that I should not have given it to the taxi driver as no one believed he would hand it in.
I forgot about this event until last night.
I was out in the evening but when I got home I found a hand written note pushed through my door. It was a letter from the taxi driver. He explained that no one had come forward to claim the money so he had added £30.00 to it and donated a total of £200 to Save the Children. He had photocopied the paying in slip to show where the money had gone.
That was all it said.
By the way in conversation I learned one more thing about the taxi driver - he was Iranian. When I was a kid Iranians were synonymous with fanatics and lunatics and on TV I saw American soldiers marching and chanting "I'm going to kill an Iranian." I wonder how "the West" was portrayed to him when he was growing up. We are about the same age
In these times of greed, social inequality, racial and religious intolerance and mutual suspicion this experience reminds me that people of all walks of life are capable of kindness.
I hope this brightens up your January friends. It really made me smile.
