places to visit in kashmir
Another memorable patient from the vale of places to visit in kashmir !
1999 ; While as first year postgraduate student rotating in neurosurgery , I happened to see a girl child about 8 years old who was brought by her father ; they were hailing from some village near Manasbal . The girl had a chronic discharging scalp wound , having taken many courses of antibiotics and wound care without permanent cure ; to be brief , I was asked by seniors to explor the wound after basic imaging and I end...ed up removing a small wooden foreign body , that had probably gone in after some minor fall while playing a year or so ago; after some basic wound care , the would healed well as expected . My clinical department changed as a part of rotation and the attendant came to my new department requesting to follow up the child and infact asked for my permanent address , so that he might come to my home , in case , he needed and failed to locate me in ever changing wards ; I obliged , as anyone else would do , in such circumstance , and wrote down my address to him ; next Sunday came and that father with that child was at my door with fresh vegetables and extra-large size Nadru bundle ( Lotus stem vegetable) and the pretext he gave for visiting me was to ensure that the wound of his child is healing ; and after that , at least twice a year , I got the love in form of fresh vegetables and Nadru bundles and the pretext was same - to follow up the wound that had healed with barely visible scar and needed to be forgotten .. The visits of my guest cum patient continued and then , I left due and entirely by the Will of ALLAH ALMIGHTY , to middle east ; But the father of my patient , did not stop and continued to visit my parents with the gift of fresh vegetables and Nadru , season after season and year after year , till we sold out that house after seven years and shifted to a new place as ALLAH had destined for us...and I am sure , if he comes to know my new address today , he would visit my home again and may be continue to visit my home till his last breath ...
Note : I did have my share of bad moments with the patients but I have no option but to admit , that in every bad experience , my patients had no fault and it was entirely my fault and my poor communication skills and unfortunate betrayal of professional standards that led to those avoidable adverse interactions ; those patients came to me with sickness , pain, fear, expectations and hope and it is me - the healthcare professional , who should have displayed patience and allayed their fear and come up to their expectations .
