how to get a boys attention
This is so beautiful. I cried as I watched Ryan Arcand, who's been homeless most of his life, play the piano. He and his brother had been removed from his parents when he was 3 or 4 years old and he discovered the piano in the basement of a foster home, when he was 8. He began playing soap opera and movie themes, then started composing his own music. He wrote the piece he is playing here and said it's called "The Beginning".
To hear him talk about discovering the piano as a l...ittle boy, and know he had most likely just been wanting to be loved and to love someone, then he found the piano... "It was as though we were meant for each other. You’re looking at the piano and you’re falling in love with it."
Most people go through life avoiding homeless people, casting judgement and thinking they aren't deserving of how to get a boys attention or help or money, assuming they know everything about all homeless people...but no one knows their story and they all have one. And each one has a moment where things went wrong, loneliness and heartbreak and feeling unwanted or helpless are almost always somewhere along their journey.
But we can all share more love, everywhere we go, and look at people with a smile because we have no idea the story behind their situation and behind their eyes longing to be loved and their heart that has talent, hidden away...just like you and me. Not a single human is talent-less or dream-less....every single one of us was born with a dream and talent inside. And sometimes it just takes a loving heart to encourage us, or to make us feel that we can really shine the gift in our heart to the world.
