Airbus A380: Emirates Engineering | airbus a380 interior Design | First C-Check - Emirates Airline
Original Full HD Video: EMIRATES ENGINEERING has completed the initial 3C-Check on its first Airbus A380, A6-EDA (c/n 011), in the largest overhaul the aircraft has undergone to date.
The jet had flown an impressive 12.5 million miles (20 million km) – equal to almost 27 return trips to the moon – and had completed over 3,000 landings and take-offs as well as carrying more than 1.2 million ...passengers since delivery to the carrier on July 28, 2008.
In a round-the-clock operation taking 55 days, two teams of highly specialised engineers stripped the entire interior of the double-decked airliner to its bare metal hull, inspected and overhauled every part and then put it all back together again. “The entire check was meticulously planned with no room for delays,” explained Colin Disspain, Vice President of Base Engineering at Emirates.
“Grounding an aircraft for such a long time is a tremendous expense, which means our engineering teams must not only work extremely efficiently but also deliver to a superior standard,” he added. Operating in high temperatures and the sandy environment prevalent in Dubai often means parts must be exchanged rather than simply cleaned.
The C-Check was completed with a rigorous test flight before the jet was returned to regular service. Emirates Engineering has produced a video showing how the 55-day check was carried out... compressed into less than two minutes.
