actors with blue eyes

I think it's funny how everyone is freaking out over Charlie Hunnam getting the part for American Drug Lord, a movie based on the life of Edgar Valdez Villarreal. They hear "Mexican Drug Cartel" and everyone automatically assumes that all Mexicans are darker skinned and how could blond haired, blue eyed Charlie Hunnam possible play this part? This is why people need to do their research. As you can see in the image to the right, Edgar Valdez, nicknamed "La Barbie" because of ...his fair complexion and lighter colored eyes, was the first US citizen (Valdez is Mexican American, born in the US) to ever lead a Mexican drug cartel. Now, you want to be pissed that a British actor (Hunnam) got the part over an American actor, I get that since it happens all the time but while I love my country, I can honestly say some of the best actors with blue eyes are from overseas. If people are truly pissed off because a Mexican American or someone of hispanic ethnic background wasn't chosen to play the part, I get that. I'm bi-racial (half Italian American half African American) so I get the outrage. But I have the feeling that people saw the word "Mexican", saw a picture of Charlie Hunnam, and everyone automatically assumed that the Mexican person Hunnam would be playing is dark skinned. Because that is what people do. They stereotype and have an image in their mind what a Mexican person should look like when in reality, Hispanic people can look "white". My own boyfriend's father-- who was 100% Puerto Rican-- looked Caucasian. If he were still alive and walking down the street, I would never have known he was 100% Puerto Rican. My own mother who is 100% Italian, is fair skinned with dirty blond / light brown hair. Everyone assumes that all Italian people are darker skinned, darker hair. So my point is, while I get the upset, I don't think people were upset for the RIGHT reasons. And personally, looking at Charlie and looking at Valdez, I can see why he was chosen for the part. I don't think it is a stretch in any means, unlike Gerard Butler playing Set, an Egyptian God in Gods of Egypt or Sigourney Weaver, Joel Edgerton, and Ben Mendelsohn-- all actors I respect and love-- playing Egyptians in Exodus. Now that was a travesty.
